Bay City Plans Downtown Holiday Magic

Sundays in the City to include Sleigh of Gifts and Festival of Wreaths

The merriment of the season will abound in historic Downtown Bay City during their annual event Sundays in the City. The event takes place every Sunday, now through Sunday, December 15, 2002 and over 30 downtown specialty shops and eateries are collaborating to host the event.

Featured during the event will be: SLEIGH OF GIFTS GIVEAWAY: One very lucky individual will be the winner of a treasure trove of holiday gifts valued at over $2,000!!

The Sleigh of Gifts is on display in Landmark Plaza at the corner of Center & Washington Avenues for the duration of the event. Those wishing to enter to win the Sleigh of Gifts can register at the following locations:ALLAN'S SHOES, DECORATING PALETTE, HOLIDAY INN, SHOE MARKET, ANCHORS AWAY, DOCK OF THE BAY, LITTLE HOUSE, ST. LAURENT BROS., WEATHERED GATE, EUC GALLERY, MAN IN THE MOON, THREE FRENCH HENS, BAY CITY ANTIQUES, FABRIC FAIR, MERLE NORMAN, THE COLUMNS, BAYSHIRE BEAUTY, GARDEN OF ART, MILL END, THE LANTERN, CHEMICAL BANK, GATHERED TRADITIONS, MY SECRET GARDEN, VIOLETS BLUE, HEN IN THE HOLLY, PEPPER TREE PLACE, WALTZING MATILDA, COTTAGE THYME, HERMAN HISS, OLD CITY HALL, CHERUBS CHILDRENS.

The following rules apply to the Sleigh of Gifts Giveaway: No purchase necessary.Must be 18 years or older and a U.S. Citizen to be eligible to win.Entries limited to one per day per participating location.Prizes are not transferable.Winner drawn 12/17/2002 and contacted by phone.

2nd Annual Festival of Wreaths: Over thirty creatively decorated wreaths are on display in Downtown shops and eateries as part of Downtown Bay City's 2nd Annual Festival of Wreaths.The event kicked off Sunday, November 17, 2002 and will continue through Sunday, December 8, 2002.(Wreaths will be on display at participating locations as detailed in Sleigh of Gifts Giveaway.)The grand finale of the 2nd Annual Festival of Wreaths will be a fundraiser held at the historic State Theatre on Sunday, December 08, 2002.

The detailsof the special event are: What: 2nd Annual Festival of Wreaths When: Sunday, December 08, 2002 4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Where: Historic State Theatre 913 Washington Ave. Bay City, MI 48708 There is no charge to attend the event and the public is welcome and invited.

The event will begin with viewing of the wreaths, live holiday music and complimentary wine and light hors d'oeurves until 5:00 p.m.. The event will then continue with an auction of the wreaths conducted by local auctioneer Rick Schmidt and hosted by Johnnie Burke of WHNN. Proceeds from the 2nd Annual Festival of Wreaths will benefit Do All, Inc., Downtown Bay City's partner for cleaning and maintenance. Also featured during Sundays in the City are: Free Carriage Rides: Sundays, Noon-3 p.m. through 12/15/2002 Boarding at Third & Water Streets. Strolling Holiday Carolers: Sundays through 12/15/2002 Times and locations will vary. Extended Store Hours: Most stores open Noon-5p.m. Some open later and earlier as well! Holiday Open House Events: Some stores will feature special events such as trunk shows, artist signings, free gift wrapping and gourmet food sampling on weekends throughout the event. Call ahead for details. Santa Bucks: Holiday shoppers can redeem their Santa Bucks at any participating location on Sundays at participating locations. Total Value of Santa Bucks is $150! Santa Bucks are valid on Sundays only through 12/29/2002 and are redeemable on regular price purchases of $25 or more. To receive a Santa Buck, contact the Bay City Downtown Management Board during office hours at 989/893-3573.

Sundays in the City is a holiday event sure to warm the hearts of one and all!
