They're Baaaaaack

The biggest news for TV freaks over 50, 60, 70 is the news that X-Files is coming back.

And we're not talking some "re-make" here starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock. It's the real deal . . .

Not Your Father's Scully
Scully and Mulder (1993-2002) are coming back .... (Head EXPLODES!!) We're talking David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson.

I think the only other TV series I would want to come back more would be Joss Whedon's "FireFly" -- starring Nathan "Rick Castle" Fillion as Captain Malcolm Reynolds. It was a true 2002 one-year sci-fi wonder.

The "hit" science fiction series "Under the Dome," based on Stephen King's same-name novel, will return to CBS on a new night, according to reports. Instead of airing on Mondays, Season 3 of the fantasy thriller will have its two-hour premiere on Thursday, June 25.

This show (for me) has become a train wreck.

I hate it but yet continue to tape it. I want to believe that Season #3 will have some "twist" to offer that will make all of the suffering of Season #2 seem worthwhile. I hope the Dome keeps shrinking.

Dave Letterman's last night on the Late Show will be May 20. Stephen Colbert's begins his TOUR OF DUTY on Late Night on September 8 (Tuesday

Halle Berry's very promising "EXTANT" will be back on July 1.

Major Crimes will be back -- but I can't determine when. Major Crimes is the TNT show, starring Mary McDonnell that was a spin-off that began right after the series finale of The Closer. I was actually happy to see "Brenda Leigh Johnson" go home to live happily ever after with (husband) Kevin Bacon. But oddly, Bacon seemed to start "The Following" the day after Kyra Sedgwick got home. (Obviously, Bacon feels that she is annoying too.)(Just Kidding, Kyra)

And finally, look forward to the summer when (Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander) Rizzoli & Isles returns for an 18-episode sixth season. Rizzoli & Isles was the most watched basic cable series last summer. Everybody loves Jane & Maura.

(Jane) Rizzoli & (Maura) Isles
Sixth Season begins in the summer of 2015

Show That will not return:

Revolution was the story of a world where all electricity on Earth was permanently disabled. In a word, Revolution just ran out of plot ideas. Tracy Spiridakos is a Jennifer Lawrence wannabe but has neither the physical presence to assume star status. Bad writing and poor plot development were the eventual demise of the program. (But I really liked the nano-bots)

Two shows I enjoyed at different times during their successful runs were Psych - 8 Seasons & Warehouse 13 - 5 Seasons. Neither will be back in 2015. The novelty of Psych just ran its course. Shawn Spencer and his best friend Gus just ran out of gas . . . much like many shows that do not become immortal like Mash or Friends or Seinfeld.. Psych hit the 120 episode mark and then just fell into syndication. (Bet you didn't know that a TV project needs to log over 100 episodes to be considered for syndication.)

Rebecca Romijn
Now a Librarian
Warehouse 13 has basically just changed names and is now The Librarians. Same scripts. Same premise. Just a new cast.

The only saving grace is Col. Eve Baird (Rebecca Romijn), a NATO counter terrorism expert, whose job it is to find the Librarians-to-be and protect them from impending danger. Rebecca Romijn was just recently set free after starring in only ten episodes on (I enjoyed K&M more than I expected.) King & Maxwell.
