Bay Regional Medical Center has scheduled three Advanced Cardiac Life Support Retraining Courses (ACLS).
 

ACLS Retraining Courses

Bay Regional Medical Center has scheduled three Advanced Cardiac Life Support Retraining Courses (ACLS).The ACLS Retraining Course (one-day course) is available Monday, Feb. 27; Wednesday, Mar. 1 and also Monday, Mar. 6, and is offered to individuals with current Basic Life Support certification and a current ACLS card.

Each ACLS Retraining Course will present information, standards, guidelines and skills developed by the American Heart Associationfor Advanced Cardiac Life Support Training. The material will be presented through the use of lecture and small group case discussion.

Participants will be tested both through written and performance examinations to assure mastery of content.Each class will be held from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Lincoln Center, 820 S. Lincoln. Bay Area Cancer Support Group Sets New Meeting Schedule

Beginning Feb. 2, the Bay Area Cancer Support Group, will meet on the first Thursday of each month from 3:30 - 5 p.m. in Conference Rooms A & B at the Center for Rehabilitation, BRMC West Campus, 3190 E. Midland Road.

This group offers a friendly environment to allow open discussion for patients, families, and friends who are dealing with cancer. A nurse practitioner and a registered social worker facilitate this group. Participants can learn about the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, as well as learn new coping skills. Bay Regional Medical Center is a member of the Great Lakes Cancer Institute (GLCI).

Occupational Therapist Receives Hand Certification

Bay Regional Medical Center announces that Mary Mosher, Occupational Therapist, is now nationally recognized as a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT). This credential demonstrates that she has achieved the highest level of competency in the profession and stays up to date with practice in the field. Certification involves meeting rigorous standards, developing a long-range career path and acquiring the advanced study and training required to pass the certification exam. The CHT credential is recognized as a benchmark for excellence in health care.

Mary has over 30 years of experience in Occupational Therapy. She has over 25 years of experience in the treatment of hands and in splinting. Mary has worked at Bay Regional medical Center since 1981 and currently works at the Center for Rehabilitation.

Baby Class for BIG Kids

Bay Regional Medical Center will offer a Baby Class for BIG Kids (sibling preparation class) on Saturday, January 21, 2006 from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. at Bay Regional Medical Center, Mental Health Building, Room 208.

This is a 1-½ hour class for children ages 3-8 that are expecting a new baby at home. In this class, children will receive information about fetal development, newborns, getting used to this new addition to the family, sibling safety and the older sibling's role. Class also includes a puppet show, game, hands on with dolls, crafts, snack and a tour of the nursery.
