The Bay City Independents are planning to take the field again next year for their second season as a "vintage" baseball team. The 2006 schedule is due out soon for the team. Major sponsors of the Independents are S.C. Johnson and Co. and First American Title Co.

Playing out of Carroll Park's sylvan setting, the Independents racked up a 10-4 record in their initial season, delighting fans with barehanded athleticism and rawboned stickwork.

The Independents beat Mt. Clemens 16-1; Midland River Hogs 10-5; Grand Rapids La-De-Dahs 24-10; River Hogs 17-7 and 11-5; La-De-Dahs 20-15 at Greenfield Village, Dearborn; Fallasburg Cubs 30-9 at Ft. Wayne, Detroit; River Hogs 4-3 in Auburn and 10-1 in Midland; and Rochester Hills Grangers 12-4. They lost to Kent 3-12, Grangers 7-16; Kent 6-9; and Grangers 14-27.

Parkside observer and sports enthusiast Lynn Stamiris snapped photos of the team throughout the season, some of which are displayed here.
