Celebrity Chef Susan Bleemer
Cooking for Care (Hospice Angels Foundation)
Cooking for Care was an interactive cooking event with Celebrity Chef Susan Bleemer and was held on June 5th at Lumber Barons in Bay City.
Guests were under the direction of Chef Susan Bleemer known for her laid-back style of cooking and fresh seasonal produce. Bleemer jokingly says, "If you love to eat, you better learn to cook!"
Over the last 30 years, Susan Bleemer has operated and owned five extremely successful restaurants in "The Food Capital" of the world, Miami, in addition to operating one of the largest and most highly sought-after Full-Service Catering and Event Planning Companies in the U.S. called "Catering the Event."
Susan's list of private clients includes Eddie Murphy, President Bush, Oscar de La Hoya, Christina Aguilera, Destiny's Child, Ludacris, "The Rock" Duane Johnson, Sandra Day O'Connor, Janet Reno, Matt Damon, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, Michael Bloomberg, Gloria Estefan, Jamie Foxx, Colin Farrell, and Russell Crowe just to name a few. Additionally, Chef Bleemer was awarded an exclusive contract as the official chef and catering company of the NFL for Super Bowls XLI, XLIII, and XLIV.
During this exciting Cooking for Care fundraiser that took place on June 5th, attendees were assigned tasks to prepare their table for dinner. All the prep work was done (so no chopping onions) and all you had to do was make the food and enjoy. This included making a chicken cesar salad, pork with fennel and potato main course and key lime pie for dessert.
Cooking for Care raises money for the Hospice Angels Foundation to help families who are in need when they have loved ones who use hospice. The money that is raised may go towards numerous things such as helping families pay for some cost towards the funeral or help pay bills when going through such a tough time in their lives.
Here's a little more information about Hospice Angels Foundation
Hospice Angels Foundation was founded in 2004 as hospice social workers were seeing their patients and families struggle in areas that existing human service organizations did not aid. They began reaching out to the CEO of their employer, Hospice Advantage, asking for his help and he began granting wishes out of his own pocket. That CEO, Rod Hildebrant, then established Hospice Angels Foundation and currently serves as the board chairperson. Hospice Angels is a single agency operating through a trusted network of licensed social workers, grief professionals, and volunteers throughout the Midwest and Southern United States.
