If you are looking for great music and to support a great cause, BARTS, located at 804 E Midland St, Bay City, MI, will be the place to be on Saturday, October 20, 2012, when the Concert For Peace hits the stage.

Organizer, Matt de Heus struck up a relationship earlier this year with the Bay Area Women's Center. Matt presented a few ideas for fundraisers that the Center really liked and away they went.

"It's a personal cause for me and they seemed like an obvious fit", said de Heus. "They have been fantastic to work with and I can see this turning into a long term partnership."

The first fundraiser was the "Pies for Domestic Peace" that was held at East Bank Market a couple months ago. They raised $1000 for the Center by having local notables such as Mayor Chris Shannon, Miss Bay County and Steve Armstrong, from the 25 Cent Beer Band, take pies in the face in return for donations.

Matt personally took 12 pies in the face and according to him, "smelled whipped cream up my nose for days."

Concert for Peace is a bigger undertaking. The fundraising concert at BARTS, will include two live bands, a cash bar, food and a silent auction.

"It really became possible when Graff Chevrolet stepped in as a sponsor", remarked de Heus. He added, "They have been extremely supportive as we planned the event and everything that people see that night will be possible because of their generosity."

Mandi Layne and the Lost Highway will be the feature performer, with the Last Folk and Roll Band leading it off. Doors will open at 6:30 PM and the music will start at 7:00.

Tickets are available in advance at Graff Chevrolet, BARTS, Herter Music, Brewtopia and the Bay Area Women's Center and run $15 a piece or 3 for $30.

They will also be available at the door the night of the event.
