I am E.S. Clark 's oldest great grand son. I met this incredible man as a child. He was an eloquent and highly respected Lawyer in Bay City. He also had a National presence within the law community having won a handful of U.S.Supreme court cases before The Hon. Oliver Wendell Holmes at the turn of the century. He came from NYC via Penn and moved here as a single man. He was of the Manse. His father and Grandfather were both Presbyterian ministers. He married into the Fitzhugh/Ballou family by marrying Dexter Ballou's youngest child Lucy. She was his first wife. Amy was his second wife whom he married in the late 50's. This is a historic Bay City family from the Victorian period.

Dave, Just to fill in the blanks for the story. My Great Grandfather was a student at Penn. He came here with his father, William Hendee, when Dad came to Bay City to be the 1st minister for the just built First Presbyterian church (1892). He was a sophmore at Penn at the time studying architecture. His daddy took the job. He went back to school and changed to law, came back to Bay City and set up his law practice. he married great granny in 1894 at the Fitzhugh's church just down the street from his Dad's church, Trinity Episcopal Church. They were true Victorians coming to Bay City and marrying into the established Victorian families already present here. The Ballou/Fitzhugh family were wealthy proprietary land owners in the area. They got together when My Grandfahter"s granddaddy came to BC. He arrived from Rhode Island when his Father bought the Kawkawlin property of James Fraser. Edward S. Clark's law practice was supported by this family association. He came to BC when these historic wealthy Victorian familes began to die off due to age. He handle most of their Will's and Estates upon their demise.
