The Bay Area Women's Center received a $15,000 contribution from Verizon for their 2011 community education, outreach and prevention programs.
Verizon Government and External Affairs State Director, Dave Vehslage, presented the check to Board President Kim Butler and Executive Director Kathy Allen on December 20, 2011.
"We are so pleased to receive the generous donation from Verizon," said Allen. "Community education and prevention is a critical part of our overall mission to eliminate domestic violence and sexual assault in our community."
For many years Verizon has been actively involved in the cause to end domestic violence in communities they serve.
"Verizon is committed to helping break the cycle of domestic violence by supporting outstanding organizations in Michigan that have a track record of success with public outreach and education to prevent future violence, as well as programs that serve women and families who have survived abuse," said John Granby, president -- Michigan/Indiana/Kentucky
