38th Annual Used Book Sale Is August 23-25
Friends of the Bay County Libraries
The book sale you have been waiting for all year is just around the corner!
The Friends of the Bay County Libraries' 38th Annual Book Sale will be held August 23-25, 2012 at the former Wenona School
located at 313 S. Wenona
on Bay City's west side (parking lot accessible from S. Dewitt). This highly anticipated three day sale runs on Thursday from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, Friday from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Book lovers from Lansing, Ann Arbor, Kalamazoo, the Thumb area and out-of-state are expected to shop the sale, which is one of the largest in Michigan. The 30,000+ items offered come from either the library's retired collection or from donations made by generous citizens. Items on sale will include former best sellers, general interest reading, children's materials, reference sources, magazines, records, CDs, books on tape, DVDs, cassettes and more.
On Thursday hard covers will sell for $2.00 and paperbacks for $1.00. On Friday prices will drop to $1.00 for hardcover and $0.50 paperback. Children's books will be $0.50 both days. Audiovisual items such as CDs, DVDs, books on tape and more will also be on sale. During the Saturday clearance, everything goes for $3.00 per box or bag.
All proceeds from the book sale are used by the Friends to buy equipment, materials and services for the public not made possible through the library system's operating budget.
The Bay County Library System serves approximately 100,000 residents through four branch locations in Bay City, Pinconning and Auburn, and a Bookmobile. Earnings from former book sales have supplied video players and funded such projects as children's reading programs, library publications, visits by children's authors, puppeteers, and community meeting room furniture.
