Ron passes gavel to Brenda

Brenda Passes President-elect pin to Andrea

Continuing a long standing tradition, 2014-15 President Ron Bloomfield passed the President's gavel, along with the President's pin to Brenda Scramlin who takes over as President 2015-16. Noting the long pedigree of the pin, Ron said "don't lose it" and breathed a sigh of relief as it passed out of his possession.

Prior to his remarks, Ron presented the video that had been made for the Club's 100th birthday. The video showed the history of the club and included an original song by Rob Clark.

Ron's remarks outlined the high points of the year starting with the weekly greeting in the language of an international club. He noted that each meeting ended with the year's theme "Light Up Rotary". Today, on his final meeting, the greeting was in English to honor Rotary, which was founded in Chicago, USA.

A number of significant programs were listed. Thanks were expressed to Harry Leaver and Bill Bateman as programmers. Cathy Czerwinski donated the centennial pins, which many people have worn weekly. Rob Clark was singled out for all his work planning events for the year.

One of the highlights of the year was the dedication of the Paul Harris Statue in Rotary Park. Thanks to Bob and Cindy Chadwick, Linda Heemstra, Cathy Czerwinski, Jerome Yantz, Rob Clark, and man who had the original vision, Don Carlyon. Thanks also to the many donors to the project.

October saw International Night at the Country Club. The ROSE award went to Chuck Cusick at the Rotary Homecoming event in November. Over $1,000 was raised toward ending Polio just in the change jars passed around each meeting. We hosted two foreign exchange students and both were in attendance. In December "Ah Tempo" presented the Christmas program music. December also saw our smallest meeting, held in the Doubletree lounge.

January saw the official 100th birthday and an opening of the Rotary Exhibit at the Historical Museum. Two vocational days set attendance records. $10,000 was donated toward Youth and Education in two Community Grant cycles. RI's 110th birthday was celebrated on Feb 23. Rob Clark raised $2,237 for the RI Foundation by juggling a soccer ball 44 times with his feet.

On April 9, Rotary Rocks featured "Elvis" performing at the State Theatre in a show opened by Jeff Yantz and his group. The Club Video was presented at the District Conference in April. May 14 saw the Centennial Gala at the Doubletree. Rob Clark was presented with the District's "Rotary Hero" award that that dinner.

June 19 was the club's Golf Outing at the former Country Club. A record number of teams turned out for a great day and a gormet hamburger bar at the end of the day.

The club added seven new members this year. Ron invited all of the sponsors to the front and presented each with a Rotary International Sponsors Pin. Ron also noted that the club's members achieved 100% Paul Harris Fellow status this year.

The club had many goals for this Anniversary Year and met almost all of them. Ron expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to serve and for all the help he received from officers, board, and members. "Light Up Rotary has been the theme this past year. For some it has been a bit outside our comfort zone. We don't want to make an example of ourselves or be held up as an example" Paraphrasing the words of RI's President, Ron went on "People look to Rotarians, to you, as leaders." Ron's challenge as he leaves is that our club "continue to lead by example, not only as a whole but as individual members".

Ron ended his official year by passing the gavel and President's pin to Brenda Scramlin. Brenda thanked Ron on behalf of the club and presented a certificate to Ron. She went on to introduce her incoming team of board and officers. Brenda then passed her President-elect pin to her successor Andrea Hales.

After making a few remarks and introducing the new year's theme banner, Brenda closed the meeting.

Connie Schweitzer presented Paul Harris Fellowships to Christin Nielsen, Barb Behmlander, Jenna Schrumpf and Trish Coonan The club expresses thanks and congratulations to these four Rotarians.
As the year ends, 100% of the club's members are Paul Harris Fellows.

Frank Janca, Brenda Rowley, Doug Rise, DeeDee Wacksman and Rick Rinn
