The Great Lakes Bay College Resource Center (GLBCRC) will be holding a GED Informational Night on Monday, August 31.
The event is from 6 to 7 p.m. and will be held at the 1904 Room in the Pere Marquette Depot in Bay City.
The GED Informational Night event is designed to provide individuals with strategies for achieving passing scores on the GED test.
All ages are invited to attend this free event. Grants to pay the $150 fee for the GED test may be available through the GLBCRC.
Beyond discussing strategies for success, the event will also provide an overview of college and career preparation services available at the GLBCRC, including resources for skilled trades and certificate programs.

The GED test has opened doors to better jobs and college programs for more than 18 million graduates since 1942. Last year nearly 800,000 adults sat for the GED test, which is accepted by virtually all U.S. colleges and employers.
The GED is the only nationally recognized high school equivalency program that is personalized, aligned with current career and college-readiness expectations, encompasses basic technology skills and connects GED® test-takers to career and higher education opportunities.
The new GED® program is a one-stop resource for adult education providing test preparation, easy online access to test scores, tools and guides, a custom plan to achieve GED® test success and connects GED® test-takers to career and higher education opportunities.
The new GED® program is offered exclusively on computer, based on the recommendations of researchers, business leaders, college officials, workforce investment groups and former test-takers, all of whom say that basic technology skills are essential to determining whether a test-taker has the skills to succeed in college and career.
The GED® program gives adults a fighting chance to go to college or get a better job.
The GLBCRC is a free community resource for local students, and offers a variety of services to assist students in obtaining a postsecondary education. The GLBCRC is a part of the Bay Area Community Foundation, which is located at the Pere Marquette Depot, 1000 Adams Street in Bay City.
