Pjs for Preemies Hold 7th Annual Clothing Drive.

January 2, 2016
By: Josh Sharrow

Thankfully, most mothers deliver full term, healthy babies with very little problems. Some mothers, however, are not that fortunate and give birth to premature babies, and the little ones are required to spend some time in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Christi Bauman's son was born prematurely and she said she was not prepared with the right clothing for her "preemie"! "This is the reason for this clothing drive so that parents who have smaller babies will have appropriate clothing for them while staying at the NICU." Said Bauman. This is how you can help. The clothing at the NICU is way too big for a baby born weighing 3 to 5 pounds. Even most 0 to 3 month clothing fits a baby with an average weight of 7 to 9 pounds. Having the clothing that fits the babies properly during their stay in the NICU, can help "normalize"the parenting experience.

For the seventh annual "PJs for Preemies" organizers are collecting clothing for the NICU at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw. The clothes must snap or button front ONLY; no zippers. In order to accommodate for wires and tubes. PJs for Preemies will accept new or like new preemie and newborn clothing (sizes preemie through 3 months). Pajamas and sleep sacks are also needed. Most sleep sacks have zippers and that is acceptable.

All donations will be matched, and become the property of Covenant Hospital. They will remain in the NICU for any babies while they are being treated.

If you are interested in donating, please drop off your donations at all Garber Automotive Group Location. If you would like to donate but are not near a drop off location, please send donations to:
