Spoiler Free Movie Review - The Boy

I saw "The Boy".

You've seen the previews. A young lady from America is hired to be a nanny in England. She goes and finds out that Brams, her charge, is a large doll. Then even stranger things begin to happen.

I enjoyed it. At first there were a couple of cheap "jump scares" and I hoped that wasn't all it was going to be. It wasn't.

The story is well done. The acting is good. Lauren Cohan, who plays the nanny, is a veteran of television's "The Walking Dead" and does a fine job. The actor and actress who play Brams' parents are appropriately dignified and creepy. Her friend Malcolm, played by Rupert Evans, delivers for the local grocery. He tells her the background story of the family.

The movie isn't gory. There isn't a lot of bad language. But there are good scares, plot twists and original story lines.

Be prepared to enjoy the movie. I went to it not expecting much but was very pleasantly surprised.

So go. Have fun. Eat popcorn.
