SAFE HARBOR: Food Pantry, Kitchen Marks 1 Year Anniversary
March 14, 2016
By: Dave Rogers
Safe Harbor pantry and soup kitchen on Bay City's West Side, will be helped by donors at Bay City's St. Patrick's Day Parade, and is now celebrating its one year anniversary and serving two nights a week on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Safe Harbor Kitchen is located at Riverwalk Baptist Church, 706 Joseph St., in the Banks District. A meal is served at 6 p.m. each Monday and Tuesday evening.
"The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and everyone comes in and sits down, and there is live music and
fellowship," said Chad Cunningham, a Safe Harbor founder. "At 6 p.m., we serve the guests that are sitting. They don't have to go up buffet-style, the drinks and food are brought to them."
Safe Harbor has now been opened for one year, Cunningham said, the donations from the community
have played a big part. We have had food drives at the State Theatre, River Roar, Churches and the St. Patrick's Day Parade is helping us out again this year.
If you are heading to Bay City's St. Patrick's Day Parade, please bring some non-perishable food
items. Safe harbor will be walking the parade route before the parade to collect the items.
