29th Annual Bean-Smith Paddleball Held at Bay Area Family 'Y'

17 Teams from 6 Michigan Cities Participate in Weekend Tournament

The 29th Annual Herb Bean - Fred Smith Memorial Paddleball Tournament was held recently at the Bay Area Family "Y" in Bay City, Michigan.

Seventeen teams from six different Michigan cities slugged it out on the Y's four courts.

In Men's Open Division, one of the best shooters in NPA history, Mike Wisniewski and Sandy DeGreif both from Bay City defeated the teacher/student team of Bay City's Randy Wackerle, and Chicago's Chad Krager 18-21, 21-10, 21-15 in the championship match.

In men's Class A Division, Rich Rahall and Brett Lewless (Brett's first ever tournament) defeated Paul Chritz and Greg Keenan 21-14, 21-10 in the all Bay City final.

In the men's B division, Midland's Keith Thurlow and Gary Levandoski out-lasted Bay City's Joe Siniff and Flint's topgun Lou Giampetroni in a third game tie-breaker (21-12).

Ann Arbor's Dan Snedecor and Bill Lott defeated the father/son team from Midland of Ron and Chris Malecki for the consolation title.

Congratulations to Stan Doane for playing in his first ever paddleball tourney. Stan teamed up with veteran Bill Wittbodt in men's Division B.
