Rotary to Hear About Saginaw Symphony Orchestra from Director

Brad Kessel, president of Independent Bank, Bay City, outlined his life and career as the first of two "Ten Minute Rotarians" on the program last week.

Kessel grew up in Saginaw Township and was graduated from MacArthur High School and Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, with a degree in accounting and finance.

He worked for a CPA firm in Grand Rapids and was one of the auditors sent to Denver during the savings and loan crisis in the 1980s. He spent 18 years in west Michigan before joining Independent Bank Corporation that has 30 locations in eastern Michigan.

Brad and his wife, Gayl, have three daughters. He is on the board of the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce and is treasurer of the United Way of Bay County.


Fred Hollister is a native of DesMoines, Iowa, where his family had been located since the 1860s. He was graduated from East DesMoines High School and Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. He earned a degree in Ancient History and Economics and a graduate degree in Modern European History.

He was a research analyst for the state of Iowa and the DesMoines Chamber of Commerce. He also was an official with the Ft. Wayne, Indiana, department of economic development and the City of Piqua, Ohio.

"Bay City is a great place with a lot of opportunity," Mr. Hollister commented.

Fred and his wife, Ginger, have a son, Christian, 13 months.
