Spoiler Free Movie Review - The Conjuring 2

Well three of my movie buddies saw "The Conjuring 2" without me. I couldn't go. The rest said, "Absolutely not!" So off I went by myself.

Fun movie. Scary movie. Well done. It was one of the best sequels to a horror movie that I've seen. There were a few 'jump scares'. But then again there were a few 'pushing your hands down on the armrests and feet on the floor' scares. Hang on to your popcorn so you don't spill it when you jump.

There are some references to the first "Conjuring" but you needn't have seen it. It is an R so expect a few swear words. I seriously don't remember much blood. There is no nudity. But please don't bring anyone under high school age unless YOU can keep them well behaved. There were a few upper elementary children who laughed at the scary parts and ran around the theater. I had to remind them they weren't at home in their living rooms.

This is based on a real life couple, the Warrens, who investigated the paranormal. The occurrence was in England and is still considered to be one of the longest recorded paranormal cases in history.

Patrick Wilson, who does his own singing in one part, and Vera Farmiga reprise their roles as the Warrens. The supporting cast was good. However I found Simon McBurney as their English counterpart distracting. I'm not sure why. I guess he almost seemed like a characterization.

So go. Have fun. Eat popcorn.
