146th Annual Fall Concert 2005

Bay City Central High School presents The University of Michigan Men's Glee Club With the "FRIARS" presenting its unique sound and showmanship in concert at BCC's George C. Charles Auditorium Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 7pm. (Doors open 6:30)

The U of M Men’s Glee Club is the second oldest collegiate chorus in the United States and one of the finest male choruses in the world.

Since its founding in 1859, they represented the University in song audiences both on campus and acrossthe United States and abroad. The Glee Club has won four first-place victories at the International Musical Eisteddfod in Llangollen, Wales, and in 1967 it circled the globe in celebration of University’s sesquicentennial year.

In recent years, the Club has toured the West Coast in the Spring 2003 and an extensive tour of Great Britain and Ireland in Spring of 2004. Selected by audition, the graduate and undergraduate members of the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club represent a cross section of all academic programs at the University. The vast majority of the members are non-music majors.

The March 30th concert program will feature musical selections from many different styles and periods, such as Renaissance motets, Romantic anthems, opera choruses, spirituals and of course college songs. The FRIARS, an octet within the Glee Club which includes 2002 Bay City Central High grad Matt Travis, will preform several tunes that display their original choreography and distinctive brand of humor. Along with Travis the Tri-Cities are represented in the Glee Club by Adam Dearing from Essexville Garber, Nills Klikken and Andrew Wollner from Midland Dow.

It all adds up to an evening of quality musical entertainment that you will not want to miss!
