MOVIE REVIEW: "Girls' Trip"

August 22, 2017
By: Kathy Rupert-Mathews

I saw "Girls Trip" and was pleasantly surprised. It was funny, sometimes raunchy but not as bad as some of the male-humor movies.

The best part was the story line. It dealt with four old friends from college who have "grown up" and gone their separate ways. One, Ryan played by Regina Hall, has become famous as an advice writer about how you can have it all, job, life, husband, etc. She is being presented an award in New Orleans and talks the publisher into letting her bring her "Flossie Posse" whom she hasn't seen in 5 years.

The posse consists of Sasha played by Queen Latifah, who has become a gossip columnist, Lisa a divorcee played by Jada Pinkett Smith and Dina a loud mouth played by Tiffany Haddish. The storyline is universal. Many could relate to it.

It won't win awards but it is filled with mostly likable people. I liked it. So go. Have fun. Eat popcorn.
