VETERAN OF YEAR: Bay County Council Seeks Nominations for February Event

The Bay County Veterans Council is seeking nominations for the annual Veteran of the Year award.

Gary Drzewicki, the chairman, heads the committee that seeks to recognize a veteran who has given exemplary service to their fellow veterans, the community, and their church.

The Bay County Veterans Council is comprised of representatives of American Legion Post 18, Vietnam Veterans 494, Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 162, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VGW) Post 6950, Military Order of the Purple Heart 514, Amvets Post 22, and Disabled American Veterans (DAV) 9.

a The nominee must have been honorably discharged from the service and live in Bay County but does not have to be a member of any veterans organization.

Applications for nominations are available from Gary Drzewicki at 893-0219 and are due by Jan. 25, 2018.

The Veterans of the Year will be named and honored Feb. 18 at an award banquet at the American Legion Post 18, 6th and Adams streets. There will be a cash bar 3 - 4 p.m. with dinner and the awards ceremony following.
