The definitions of "insidious" are: Intended to entrap or beguile. Stealthily treacherous or deceitful.
Frankly, that is a little how I felt about the movie, "Insidious: The Final Key." I felt it promised more than it delivered.
I was not really impressed. There were a couple of good jump scares. The storyline was better than some of the others in the franchise. However, in my opinion,
it is time to retire the franchise.
I like the main character, Elise Rainier, played by Lin Shaye. If anyone is confused, yes she died in a previous movie but this is a prequel. Her associates are the same two she?s always had. The actresses who play her as a child and teenager are ok. The rest of the acting is adequate. Not much special effects were needed.
All-in-all I didn't think it was that good. I could have seen this by myself at night. I was in the mood for a good scare. Unfortunately, I didn't get one.
So go. Have fun! Eat popcorn.
