MOVIE REVIEW - "I Feel Pretty" with Amy Schumer

We saw "I Feel Pretty."

Good movie, sweet movie, funny movie. I wasn't sure how much I'd like it because I didn't think I liked Amy Schumer.

I was wrong.

The story begins by introducing you to Renee Bennett, played by Schumer. She is so insecure and shy, it's painful to watch. Her two best friends Vivian and Jane played by Aidy Bryant and Busy Phillips, try to encourage her to have confidence but to no avail.

She works in tech for a huge, exclusive cosmetics company. The owners are Lauren Hutton and Michelle Williams. Her office is a tiny little basement hole in Chinatown, that she shares with Mason, played by Adrian Martinez.

She has an accident at a cycling gym and hits her head. When she awakens she sees herself totally differently. Now to her, she looks pretty and has confidence. You can almost guess the rest of the plot. It sounds contrived but it isn't. You notice the awkwardness of others around her and how they also grow.

It is well acted and the storyline is good. It's something many of us can relate to. It is a PG-13. It would be a good storyline for more mature adolescents on up.

Good movie.

So go. Have fun. Eat popcorn.
