To Raise Money for Underprivileged Kids
Event Slated Nov. 9 at Horizons Conference Center, Saginaw

The Delta College Chocolate Affair will be conducted on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 6-9:30 p.m. at Horizons Conference Center on State Street in Saginaw.
The Chocolate Affair provides funding for the Possible Dream program that encourages young, at-risk students to graduate from high school and attend college. The students are sixth through twelfth graders, who are bright and eager to learn, but face many challenges at home.
"Fulfilling the "dream" of a college education may be a daunting task for them," says Dee Dee Wacksman, member, Delta College Board of Trustees. "The students face economic hardship, and all have received some kind of state or federal assistance."

Possible Dream students are identified by their teachers and counselors in the sixth grade and must meet certain criteria, she said, adding: "The goal of the program is to keep bright, at-risk students active in school and pursuing a bright future."
The Possible Dream program provides hundreds of students the opportunity to experience educational and cultural activities that their families are unable to provide. It gives these children a chance to see that life offers many opportunities.
Prior to high school graduation, the Possible Dream program helps students and their families take advantage of federal and state programs that will help them pay for college tuition and books. These students and their families are often unaware that this funding exists.
Mrs. Wacksman said: "Many young students do not believe they will have an opportunity to attend college. The Possible Dream programs give them hope for a promising future."
The cost per ticket is $100 and admits one person (the tax-deductible amount of each ticket is $50).
The event includes:
Red carpet valet parking service and pleasant sounds of the Delta Flute Choir.
Food islands from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (salmon, lobster, shrimp, chicken, tenderloin of beef, turkey, and stuffed mushroom caps);
Live music performed by "CEYX"
A Chocolate Finale featuring 35 extravagant chocolate tortes and a "Sweet Success" cake created by renowned chocolate artist Michael Skarupinski.
