Ohio State 42 - Michigan 39
Rematch? I Don't Think So - USC or SEC Champ Will Be A Better BCS Choice

By: O. J. Cunningham
USC 9-1 . . . lost to Oregon state 33-31 ( must play ND 11/25)(play UCLA 12/2)
Florida 10-1 . . . lost to Auburn 27-17 (must still play SEC title game against Arkansas on 12/2)
Arkansas 10-1 . . lost to USC 50-14 (1st game of season)( must still play SEC title game against Florida on 12/2)
Notre Dame . . . 10-1 . . . lost to Michigan 47-21 (must play USC on 11/25)
Rutgers 9-1 (must play 4-7 Syracuse 11/25) (9-1 West Virginia 12/2)
Auburn 10-2 . . . lost to Arkansas 27-10, lost to Georgia
Oregon State . . . 6-4 . . . lost to Boise State, California, Washington State, UCLA
It is easy to see that if USC wins out . . .
(defeating Notre Dame and UCLA) that they would be an easy vote for BCS #2 . . .
Next choice for #2 is the winner of the Arkansas-Florida (12/2) SEC championship game . . .
If USC does not win out and are defeated by Notre Dame . . . oh my! A crap shoot! This scenario (ND defeats USC) would encourage an Ohio State - Michigan rematch . . .
But I believe the winner of the SEC title game (versus Ohio state) will still be a better choice for voters than a re-match of today's 42-39 classic.
It's obvious (at least to me) that Notre dame should jump over Michigan in the BCS rankings if ND defeats USC. However, it's more likely at that point, the BCS is still likely to favor the SEC title game winner (Florida-Arkansas) over a replay of last year's (2005) Ohio State - ND bowl match-up.
