American Idol?

When asked, (by a good friend) if I watched the last American Idol Episode, I was almost offended, I know there is a wide span of American Idol fans, but I am Not one of them.

For one thing, I am not a steady television viewer. However, I did take my sister's suggestion of catching the season premier of 24, and experienced the power of Jack Bauer. So far, it has me hooked. How could it not? It's intense, action packed from minute to minute, and keeps you at the edge of your seat. And the premise of the show is very much possible and probable.

IF I'm flicking through channels, which is not common for me, my choices would more likely be a stop at the Animal Planet channel. (I am more a non-fiction book reader.)

I learned more about the Lynx (cat) on the Animal Planet a few weeks ago. The Lynx and the Bobcat are similar .... but here are some specifics about the Lynx and the Bobcat that describe their differences in appearance -- If this is something of interest to you.

Lynxes have short tails, and usually a tuft of black hair on the tip of the ears. They have a ruff under their neck which has black bars (not very visible) and it looks like a bow tie. They have large paws padded for walking on snow, and long whiskers on the face. The color of the body varies from light brown to grey and is occasionally marked with dark brown spots, especially on the limbs. They range about 11 pounds roughly the size of a large domestic cat up to about 66 pounds. The Eurasian Lynx is significantly larger than the other species.

Compared to the Canadian lynx, the bobcat is generally smaller and although it shares many of the common lynx characteristics, it can be differentiated from the lynx in a number of ways. The bobcat has less pronounced ear tufts and cheek ruffs, a dark tip covering only the top of its "stumpy" tail, much smaller feet, and a generally more patterned and varied coat coloration. Ground fur color ranges from light grey, through yellowish brown to reddish brown and markings vary from "tabby" stripes to heavy spotting. In general, bobcats found in the southern parts of their range are darker and smaller, whilst cats in the north are usually paler and larger.
