St. Patrick's Day Parade Schedule of Activities & Entry Deadline Announced

The Parade Route Is Down Center Ave. - Park to the Conclusion at Water St.

Governor Jennifer Granholm was in Bay City for the 2006 St. Pat's Parade.
 

Parade Marshal Sue Banaszak will lead the 53rd St. Patrick's Day Parade Sunday, March 18 beginning at 2 p.m. The parade route is down Center Avenue, from Park to the conclusion at Wenona Park at Center and Water.

Parade entries may be downloaded from the new parade website, www.stpatparadebaycity.org or by calling Rose McEachern at 989-684-7980. Parade entry deadline is March 5.

Trophies will be awarded for: Most Beautiful in Town, Most Beautiful out of Town, smallest float that a person can ride on, Mayor's Trophy (best float overall), most unique, President's Trophy (best Irish theme), and best Youth Oriented Float. A postcard stating your position number in the parade will be mailed to you a few days before the parade.

THE ST. PATRICK'S DAY QUEEN PAGEANT is slated Sunday, March 11 at the State Theatre, 913 Washington Ave. Irish lassies competing for Queen and Court honors are judged for poise, oral presentation and evening gown. Tickets are $8 and may be purchased at the door. or by contacting Kelly at 686-4069.

QUEEN PAGEANT AFTERGLOW: Sunday, March 11, about 6 p.m., American Legion, 700 Adams St. Please join parade members, the Queen and Court and pageant contestants immediately following the pageant for fun and refreshments.

SPECIAL CHURCH SERVICE: Saturday, March 17, 4 p.m., St. Joseph's Church, 1005 Third St. Parade Marshal Sue Banaszak and the Queen and Court will be guests at a service honoring St. Patrick.

GEORGE WALSH IRISH BALL: Saturday, March 17, 6 p.m., the Grand Banquet & Conference Center, 660 W. Hampton Road, Essexville. Cocktails at 6 p.m., dinner at 6:45 p.m., dancing to a DJ from 8:30 p.m. to 12 midnight. Tickets are $30 per person; call 892-0835. Limited to 300.

FLAG RAISING CEREMONY: Sunday, March 18, Bay County Building, 515 Center Ave., 10 a.m.
