Information Sought About 1940s Mystery House Near James Clements Airport

Two Story Structure Stood Windowless for Decades, Baffling Passersby

Many Bay Cityans who traveled River Road to Saginaw in the 1940s and early 1950s remember the white stucco house under construction.

Mysteriously, the house was never finished. We never even saw anybody working on it. But there it stood, year after year, a two-story white elephant.

We remember going to James Clements Airport with my uncle, Leo LaFramboise, an instructor in B-17s during World War II, in the late 1940s, and wondering about the house.

Recently a photo of the house surfaced after it was found by Suzanne David in the files of photos of her father, John Meagher, a prominent contractor. The Meagher firm was working on sewer lines to the airport area and The Bay City Times snapped some shots, getting the mystery house in the background. There was no information about the house in the photo cutline that ran in the paper.

Now history researcher Jim Petrimoulx is trying to find any information about the house and is seeking help from the public. "Does anyone have any information on this home that was located just north of the James Clements Airport" Mr. Petrimoulx wrote to MyBayCity.com. "Picture is dated October 03, 1953."###
