Five workshops on international marketing will be held at Saginaw Valley State University this fall.

The workshops are sponsored by the SVSU Center for Manufacturing Improvement and the Michigan Works! Regional Skills Alliance. The workshops beginning in September are aimed at helping Michigan businesses access international markets and export products overseas.

The presenter will be James Foley, Director of the International Trade Center and NAFTA Opportunity Center at Bradley University. A frequent speaker, he was named International Trade Educator of the Year in 2006.

The first session in the Global Business Academy will cover international marketing. Participants will learn how to develop an effective global marketing plan, identify and rank high-potential export markets, and evaluate and select the best market opportunities.

Each participant will receive a copy of Foley's book, "The Global Entrepreneur," which discusses techniques to expand international trade for small to mid-sized companies.

Other workshops in the series include:

  • International business management, September 25;

  • Managing international logistics and supply chains, October 23;

  • Export finance, November 13; and

  • Opportunities in emerging markets, December 4.

    The cost to attend is $50 per workshop or $200 for the full series. To register or for more information, contact Linda Haas at (989) 964-7015 or E-Mail Linda Haas ###
