Being that he has become the Tri-Cities favorite troubadour, the Friends of Celtic Culture, a non-profit Bay City organization dedicated to the promotion of the music and arts of the Seven Celtic Nations, has invited Derek back to perform at the State Theatre in downtown Bay City on Saturday, September 29, 2007 at 7 p.m.

$20 tickets are on sale at the State Theatre, 913 Washington Avenue, 989-892-2660 and the Heart of Ireland gift shop, 914 Washington Avenue, 989-891-9413 in Bay City.

Derek Warfield is a historian, songwriter, mandolin player, and the founding father of the legendary Wolf Tones. For 42 years he has entertained audiences from Dublin, Ireland to Dublin, Ohio.

Warfield has been the voice of stirring introductions and amusing anecdotes that have endeared him to countless thousand of fans. Derek has written and recorded over 60 songs and ballads. "The Foggy Dew" was the first of 16 albums recorded by the Wolfe Tones in 1960.

The Tri-cities are in for a bonus performance by Derek Warfield. At 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2007, Warfield's band will be at the Bay County Historical Society's River of Time Festival held along the Saginaw River in downtown Bay City.

Derek Warfield, although born and reared in Dublin, Ireland, has become an expert historian dealing with the U.S. Civil War, especially the contribution that Irish-Americans made for both the North and the South.

For the River of Time performance Warfield and his band will don Civil War uniforms and sing the songs of the Fighting 69th, Gen. Patrick Cleburne C.S.A., Gen. Thomas Francis Meagher, and Bay City's own, General Birney. "Hurrah, Boys, Hurrah!" they will clamor, immortalizing the tens of thousand of soldiers of Irish descent who gave their lives in the bloodiest war in American History.
