After their first win last week against Oscoda, Pinconning was hoping to keep the momentum going with a second win against Tawas. In the end, hope was not enough to stop the Braves from claiming a 40-27 win.
This win makes the Braves 3-1 in conference. It also means a three-way tie for first place with Standish-Sterling and Ogemaw.
The Spartans didn't start the game off too well, with a fumble on the opening kickoff, giving Tawas possession of the ball at Pinconning's 20 yard line. Soon after that, senior running back Alex Verlac(22) scored his first of five rushing touchdowns.
Pinconning answered back to Tawas's early scoring with an 8-yard run by senior quarterback Barrett Penix(5). Early in the second period the Spartans took the lead with a 36-yard pass by Penix to senior wide receiver Tim Darby(2).
The Spartan lead didn't last long. Tawas scored two more times in the second quarter, and three more in the second half. Pinconning put up a good fight, scoring two more touchdowns from two 9-yard passes from Penix to senior wide receiver Brandon Delgado(87).
