Come to Breakfast to Benefit Stepping Stones, Trauma & Grief Center

The Stepping Stone Grief & Trauma Center is a non profit organization of professionals who are dedicated to helping children and their families during a difficult life changing time in their lives, by volunteering their time to help make a difference to families throughout Mid Michigan and the surrounding areas.

The center is funded through grants and donations from the public.

The Stepping Stones team goes into schools when there has been a loss of a fellow student through a tragedy of an accident or a traumatic event as well as have grief support for students who may have difficulty dealing with the loss of a parent or sibling or grandparent or favorite aunt or uncle or close friend or neighbor.

Providing a step by step support system throughout the grieving process. The support systems of on going support groups for all ages.

Groups are organized according to age and facilitated by professionals and assisted by trained volunteers. Services are provided without regard to race, gender, religion, or ability to donate. Services are provided free of charge.


Stepping Stones support group also provides Comfort Corners, which is a 4 and 6 week programs that are designed to help children and their families work through the process of dealing with grief in safe, structured, and healthy ways. The program is provided to businesses, schools, churches, and communities as needed.

Outdoor activities and events are also included to help with the grieving process. Some activities and events include candlelight memorial services, planting a memorial garden, balloon releases, and etc. Stepping Stones also have a memorial garden at the Bay City Riverwalk.

Stepping Stones also provide camp for children of all ages and this is all paid for by fundraisers that we have so that parents don't have to come up with the money themselves.

"This is the only grief center around that does not charge for anything, it is all done with whatever money we can raise", said, Jackie DeLorge, board member of Stepping Stones.

DeLorge continued, "Our volunteers are dedicated people who give freely of their time and generosity to assist with groups, camps, or fund raising activities."

A benefit breakfast is being held at St. Mary's Church in Bay City to benefit Stepping Stones on February 3, 2008. From 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Located at 607 E. South Union on the West Side of Bay City - Clara and Walnut Streets)

All donations are greatly appreciated and tax deductible.
