Garber Boys, Girls Stumble Against Birch Run; Travel To Caro on Friday

Essexville-Hampton Cagers Struggle Against Powerful Birch Run Panthers

The Garber Dukes travel to Caro Friday night for a 6 p.m. girls contest and a 7:30 p.m. boys matchup against the Tigers.

The Caro girls are 4-7 on the year and the Caro boys are 3-8.

The Birch Run boys team ran their season record to 6-1 in Tri-Valley East league play and 7-2 overall with a 75-54 victory over Garber High in action this week.

The Panthers topped the Dukes behind Jordan Duby's heroics as the point guard ran up 30 points to 18 for Garber's top scorer Brett Eichhorn.

Meanwhile, the Dukes girls team lost by a little tighter margin, 51 to 44 after leading 37-36 after three quarters. Molly Braun led the way for the Dukes with 14 points.

The Garber boys beat Caro on Dec. 11 by a 67-61 count and also topped North Branch Jan. 11 for their two wins against eight losses overall.

The Garber girls are 5-2 in league play and 7-2 overall.
