Cougars lose 72-62 to Rockets

After a horrifying loss to U.S.A. the Cougars returned home to face the currently undefeated Reese Rockets. The Cougar gym was filled to its full capacity in expectation for an excellent game.

For what may be the first time this season, the Cougar students were cheering their team right from the tip-off. Hoping for a sweet victory; or at least a close game, the Cougar fans stood up and made themselves heard.

Unfortunately for the hopeful Cougars, the Rockets weren't planning on a loss Friday night. Right from the get-go the Rockets struck again and again and surged ahead to take the half 33-21.

Despite the large gap separating the Cougars from the Rockets on the scoreboard, the All Saints pompon squad would dazzle the crowd with their energetic routine to the song "More Than A Revolution".

After the intermission, the Cougars returned with a newfound intensity not there in the first half. Some big plays by the Cougar's Aaron Janner and a three pointer by Adam Pijaszek kept the Cougars within striking distance of a win. But the Cougars just couldn't keep pace with the bigger and quicker Rockets.

In the fourth quarter the Cougars made a huge run to close the gap to within ten points; but the Cougars ran out of time at the end. Die-hard Cougar fan Senior Becca DeWyse said "it's disappointing - I need something to cheer about."

Despite the loss, the Cougars fared pretty well against the mighty Rockets. Preston Oakes (#1), Janner (#3), and Mario Walker (#34) all managed to score 10 points while Ollie Hull slammed in 17 to lead all Cougar scorers.

The Cougar men won't be back home until Feb. 2nd; but look for the Cougars ladies next week at home on the 29th & 31st.
