All Saints Girls Victorious Over Mayville 47-39
Strong Offense Led by Megan Gerulski with 11 Points Leads Cougars to Win

After the Cougar JV team came away with a win, the night was looking promising for the girls varsity team. Hoping for a win in the midst of both teams current losing streak a few diehard cougar fans showed up to watch the match up between Mayville and the Cougars.

Despite the low morale; due to past losses, the Cougar girls played a fantastic first half and brought all our hopes up again. The Cougar girls defense was shaky in the first half but a strong offense led by Megan Gerulski with 11 points helped the Cougars manage to hang on. At the half the scoreboard showed a dead tie, 21 all.

Starting the third period, the Cougars defense was nothing like what it had been before intermission. The girls defense simply refused to let Mayville chip in any of their lay-ups. The Cougars would surge ahead to gain a promising lead.

However, before the Cougars could collect their win, Mayville would have one last surprise in store for them. Blasting in a three pointer with precious little time left, Mayville had a fighting chance of coming back. However the Cougars determination prevailed and thank to the Cougars steeled defense, a victory at home was claimed.

Overall, free throws won the game. As Cougar Coach Duane Gorlewski said "We played well enough to win, and free throws were what won the ball game".
The Cougar girls will play at home again on Thursday against Marlette, and then the Cougar Boys Varsity will have their go at Marlette on the road Friday.
