Around 9:30 Sunday night some major thunder storms blew across Bay City. Almost 2 inches of rain were recorded in 30 mintues on the city's West side. The winds whipped giant maple's almost into submission and did break a number of larger branches.

For Lisa VanEpps, it came close to being a deadly storm. While driving East in the 400 block of West Midland St. a huge tree fell across the road and onto the windshield of her car. Ms. VanEpps suffered some cuts and bruises, on her legs, but was otherwise uninjured. According to Kathleen Osterhout, owner of the car who was on the scene, had VanEpps reached that spot on the road half a second later the treewould have been directly in her lap. Ms. VanEpps was very fortunate to be able to smile and laugh an hour after the accident!

The accident occured in the height of the storm. Bay City Police, fire and rescue responded within minutes. Midland Street remained close well past midnight as the tree and vehicle were removed from the scene.
