Okay. Here we are in the end of July, the bay's temperature has cooled down and so has the Walleye bite. Some say, it's the Mayflies that are slowing the bite down. I'm sure it's a number of reasons.
Myself, I'm gearing up for the Fall Season!!! I've put in for my Fall Turkey permit and my Anterless Deer permit, the deadline for these applications is August 1st so, if you haven't gotten it done yet, go to www.michigan.gov/dnr after you have read my article.
Gunner and I are especially looking forward to the upcoming Saginaw Bay Waterfowl Clinic at the Bay City State Recreation Area, August 2nd and 3rd. We attended the clinic last year for the first time and are really looking forward to going back this year.
The Waterfowl Clinic includes some of the following events: Michigan Waterfowl Stamp Competition, Duck, Goose and Team Duck Calling Competition, Duck Hunter and Outdoor Recreation Expo, Wildlife Arts and Crafts Show, Carving Shows and contests, Wildlife Photography Contest, Dog Retrieving information clinics and more.
Last year we were able to pick up some great bargains from the exhibitors and enjoyed the artist displays as well. So, set aside some time the weekend of August 2nd and you won't be sorry you attended. There is something for all ages at this event.
Until next time, take someone you care about to Michigan's great outdoors. You'll be glad you did!
