Bay City Has Crowned A New St. Patrick's Day Parade Queen!

State Theatre Hosts 54th Annual St. Patrick's Day Pageant

And the winner is.....54th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade Queen, Lauren Moore, 1st runner up, Kelly Bond, 2nd runner up, Rebecca McDonald

State Theatre was the place to be Sunday. The lights were low, the dresses were sparkling like Champagne and the smiles were plentiful inside the theatre for the 54th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade Queens Pageant.

The event began with a presentation of colors by Bishop Murphy Assembly Color Corps, followed by the National Anthem sang by Judge Timothy J. Kelly. Sue Banaszek, 2007 Parade Marshal presented 2008 Parade Marshall, Kathi Newsham her "reign" followed by The Evening Wear Competition which was filled with glamour, jewels and beauty.

Each contestant competed in a Myths and Legends of Ireland talent and an on-stage question interview, which combined, counted for seventy percent of their overall score. The Evening Wear Competition counted as the remaining thirty percent.

Miss Congeniality was named as Kelsey Sharrow followed by the Coronation of St. Patrick's Day Queen and Court Ceremony. The Queen and her court are as follows:

St. Patrick's Day Queen 2008: Lauren Moore

1st Runner-Up: Kelly Bond ($600 scholarship)

2nd Runner-Up: Rebecca McDonald ($400 scholarship)

Master and Mistress of Ceremony, Thomas Newsham and Britney Reed. Britney is the Pageant Assistant Director, her mother, Kelly Reed is Executive Director. This family "duo" has put a dramatic amount of effort and numerous hours into making the event a success. Also pictured are 2008 Parade Marshal, Kathi Newsham and 2007 Parade Marshal, Sue Banaszek

Monday, March 3rd, 6:30p.m.: Proclamation, City Hall-301 Washington Ave.

Saturday, March 8th, 4:00p.m.: Mass at St. Mary of the Assumption Church

Saturday, March 15th, 6:00p.m.: George Walsh Irish Ball - Elks/Grand Ticket Info: Rosalie Walsh (989) 892-0835. Tickets are $30 per person

Sunday, March 30th, 2-4:00p.m.: Award Ceremony, American Legion

Sunday, March 16th, Parade Day!!!

10:00a.m. - Flag Raising - Bay County Building, Center Ave.

10:30a.m. - Breakfast - Bay City Central High School

2:00p.m. - The St. Patrick's Day Parade Association presents the 54th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade!

6:00p.m. - Knights of Columbus #414, 225 N. Linn St., all welcome!
