Good music, good food, and good company...what more could one ask for? This describes the event held in Pinconning City Park on Saturday June 21st. It was the annual outdoor acoustic concert and fellowship entitled "A Night In June" and took place from two to nine pm.

Hosted by the Standish Friends Society, A Night In June not only provided a variety of musicians, from Kathy and the Fiddlers to a sing-a-long performed by everyone, it also provided good, and reasonably priced food. For $2.50 you could get a hot dog, chili, strawberry shortcake, and lemonade or bottled water.

There were also outside vendors there to provide their own goods and services. You could buy cinnamon buns, jewelry, and specially designed bags. Or you could have had your portrait drawn (a favorite with the children).

But what really made this event special was that it allowed family and friends to gather around and just hang out. Children played together while adults sat under tents with their friends and family, catching up and just relaxing, to such songs like Danny Boy or Amazing Grace. It had a feeling of togetherness.

Judith Wyzkiewicz, the first of many talented performers, summed it up this way. "This concert is put on for fellowship and friendship and basically for feeling good."

If you were one of the unlucky to have missed this experience, that's O.K. There's always next year--and chances are you'll find me back there as well, with a bunch of my friends and family.

Thru the Mist, an 1800s period music show, was a featured performer.
