Business and civic leaders came from Saginaw, Bay City, Midland and areas as far away as Mount Pleasant Thursday at the Apple Mountain resort in Freeland.

Chambers of commerce in Bay, Midland, Saginaw and Isabella counties organized the 2008 Regional Business After Hours.

"Were attempting to promote good business relationships, utilizing all three cities strengths" said Sid Allen, president of the Midland Area Chamber of Commerce.

In an effort to spur regional growth and development, Allen said chambers in Bay, Saginaw and Midland have been backing the concept of building a "Tri-City area".

The Mount Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce was invited to join the Regional Business After Hours for the second year.

"The Silicon Valley is not one community," he said. "We have special assets here and we can leverage those assets."

Mike Stodolak, Senior Vice President of Independent Bank in Bay City, said Thursday's event was a significant event proving that the tri-cities are moving in a syncronized direction.

"This event represents regionalism and cooperation" . "We rely on one another and need to be a team, not three individaual islands."
