Cougars Can't Hold Back the Powerhouse Patriots

For the Cougars Thursday's showdown with the U.S.A. Patriots was nothing short of a nightmare. The Cougars struck the first two blows but their celebration was short lived as the Patriots quickly racked the score up to 19-11. Desperately, the Cougars fought back, but with the score at 24-20 it was only a matter of time until the Patriots closed out the first game.
Doubling up to block a shot from Patriot Carly Treiber are Taylor Tim #6 and Molly Neymeiyer #3.

Edged out 25-20, the Cougars began game two hoping to even the odds. Unfortunately for the Cougars, things didn't go according to their plan. The Patriots scored the first three points and took off - racking up a three point lead that would carry them through the second game. Toward the end of the second game the Patriots turned up the heat and slammed in five points to finish game two 25- 18.

A disheartened Cougar team hit the court to defend in the third game. Try though they did, the Cougars were unable to hang on as the patriots crushed them 25-12 to close out the night. Coach Dianne Sutton attributes the night's loss to communication saying "there wasn't as much communication out there as there was last week". Look for the Lady Cougars to play at home again on October 2nd when they will take on Lakers.
