The John Glenn Jr. Bobcat's headed out last Saturday geared up to give back to the community that supports them. Approximately 30 football players, 6 parents, 4 coaches, 40 rakes, 60 leaf bags and 6 leaf blowers converged on local yards to clean them up for winter and that they did, in a jiffy!

Head Coach, Dobbins had the idea to pick local families who needed their yards cleaned up, shrub and trees trimmed, leaves bagged and grass cut. His idea stems from the fact that this team has gained so much support this season from the community, it was time to give some of that back!

Can you just imagine 10 cars and 30 football players showing up at your house to clean up your lawn?

The first home of the day was Helen Dereniak on Fletcher Court in Bay City. To her surprise Saturday morning, she peered out her window to find an (almost) entire football team, parents and coaches in her yard blowing and raking leaves quicker than you can imagine! That yard cleanup took the team only 20 minutes to complete!

"I've never seen anything like this, I didn't know what was going on out here. I can't do this myself, my husband is gone, this is a blessing, that's for sure. My gosh," said Helen Dereniak.

Neighbors were coming out of nowhere to see what was going on. They assumed, with all of these people in her yard, something may have happened to her and wanted to help themselves. They were stunned to find out, it was just a local football team giving back to their community!

Jr. Bobcat's Head Coach, Dobbins, spearheaded this event Saturday. So many businesses, parents, coaches and more have supported this team throughout the season, he wanted to ensure the team gave some of that back to the community

The second destination was Mr. Doug Johnson on Yorkshire in Bay City. Mr. Johnson recently had hip replacement surgery and his wife was recently admitted to rehabilitation, therefore, getting his yard ready for winter had seemed impossible, that is, until the John Glenn Jr. Bobcat Football team showed up at his door!

"My goodness, this is amazing. My wife and I could not have done it and it needed to be done desperately. Gosh, thanks to the Bobcat's, thats for sure. This is just amazing, how quickly they are able to get what would have taken me an entire weekend, thank you," said Johnson.

This wonderful day of giving ended at Head Coach Dobbins house for a pizza party and a game of football! Twelve pizzas were donated to the cause from Domino's Pizza on Kosciuszko in Bay City.

Even cleaning up the street gutters, this team was passionate about helping give back to the community!
