It is said that for a good time, all you need is good food and good friends. Thursday night, Bob Garelik of Great Lakes Harley Davidson and Buell kicked it up a few notches with his 2nd Annual Harley Davidson Fashion Show. A terrific spread of meats, cheeses, sandwiches and killer meatballs was available. People of all ages and interests mingled in anticipation of the show to come. A slide show of motorcycle events, people and yes, even a dachshund kept the crowd entertained while they waited for the main event.

Eager fans await the show.

To an outside observer, a Harley Davidson Fashion Show might suggest leather outfits on skimpily dressed models. Nothing could be further from the truth. As the show would soon reveal, Harley Davidson puts out a very fashionable line of "motor clothing" that is sure to please every member of the family. While sports teams offer more than just jerseys, so does Harley Davidson. Whether you are a motorcycle enthusiast or not, you are sure to find something that will put a smile on anyone's face come Christmas morning.

This fashion show was equipped with all the runways and tube lighting one would expect from a fashion show. Following the introductions by Bob Garelik and the warm-up by Z 93, the show kicked off to the tunes of Madonna for an upbeat presentation. Coordinator wife, Kathy Garelik, utilized the local talent of employees and their families along with "good customers" to model the active wear much to the delight of the patrons.

As the nerves wore off for the models and the beat of the music inspired dancing, so too did the crowd join in to the delight of the show. Cheers and applause for models and clothing alike filled the warehouse. Clothing ranged for tasteful t-shirts to leather jackets, zippered hoodies to sleeveless summer wear. Young children sporting well designed t-shirts "boggied" their way down the runway as mom followed with a decorated light hoody just right for cool summer nights.

Even the "grandparents" displayed the versatility of the Harley Davidson line with jackets and a more adult shirt with stylish HD accents. And yes, there were the local "hotties" strutting their stuff that was nicely accented by the HD styles. As they played to the crowd and the camera, tossing hair and hips as well as jackets over the shoulder, the crowd responded loudly.

And what would a Christmas fashion show be without Santa making an appearance. If you missed him, don't worry. He will be making a stop at the store on Saturday, December 6 and 13 where you can get your picture taken with him. But be sure to call for time and details.

The show ended with typical Great Lakes Harley Davidson style. Bob announced that everything in the store that night was 20% off. And if that wasn't enough, once walking outside you were greeted with a pathway full of those beautiful Harley Davidson bikes lighting the way. Whether you are a motorcycle enthusiast or not, those magnificent machines with their styling and paint jobs whisk you away on the back roads of America on a warm afternoon even if you've never ridden one. And as the audience piled into the store for a closer look at the fashions and some friendly ribs at the models, it was clear they were already looking forward to next years show.

If you missed this fun evening, all the fashions as well as the Harley Davidson bikes can be seen at Great Lakes Harley Davidson and Buell located just past the split at 3850 S. Huron Road, north of the Euclid Ave. and Wilder intersection.
