Two Words - Class Act!

The Bay City State Theater is banging out the entertainment, and last weekend's was a class act performance with the former singer of the Verve Pipe, Brian Vander Ark.

Vander Ark who currently resides in Grand Rapids, Michigan put on an outstanding performance Saturday night November 15, 2008. Vander Ark told MyBayCity.com that this was his first time at the State Theater and the last time he performed in Bay City was in 1994.

Vander Ark performed with his band and also performed solo giving the audience a taste of songs from his 3rd solo album.

Vander Ark, who has made a name for himself, put his heart and soul into each and every song and it showed as the end of the night neared, he begin to lose his voice. Vander Ark laughed and said, "I never lost my voice to a city in my life, so there ya go Bay City." Vander Ark was on schedule to leave for Nashville that night, unfortunately he might of had to cancel.

According to Mike Bacigalupo, State Theater Executive Director, 400 of the 556 seats filled the state of the art theater.

Bacigalupo said, "There were 156 people that missed a great show."

NOT A BAD SEAT IN THE HOUSE. If you've never watched a performance at the State Theater it's something you need to do, just the beauty of theater is something to see and the friendly and professional staff make your visit enjoyable.

Lux Land , Vander Ark's wife, was the opening act of the evening.

Bob Bloenk from 'Another Night of Vaudeville' who performed on Thursday night, stayed in town to watch the night's show.

Chris Smith and Kris Jaussi traveled from Detroit to see Vander Ark's performance. Jaussi, a long time fan said, "He's awesome!". The two agreed their trip to Bay City was enjoyable and well worth the trip. The two commented on their wonderful visit through downtown Bay City, including Old City Hall and Mulligans and were staying at the DoubleTree.

Vander Ark signs autographs and takes photos with his fans after the show.

MyTriCityNews meets up with MyBayCity at the end of the night to get their own autograph and pictures. (Thanks to Mark EauClaire for his assistance.)
