AT&T Donation Supports Local Efforts to Aid Area Homeless Community

AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) today announced support for the Bay City community through a donation to the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission program. Local officials, business leaders and other community representatives joined Good Samaritan Rescue Mission and AT&T at the mission for the announcement this morning.

AT&T's $5,000 donation will support will support the efforts of the Mission's Youth Advisory Council who are working to renovate a meeting room to be used to train area local residents in need in life skills such as nutrition, budgeting and parenting skills as well as substance abuse recovery meetings. The Youth Advisory Council is made up of middle and high school students who are leaders in their respective schools and working to develop additional leadership skills.

"This is an incredible show of generosity, and this donation will go a long way in helping us encourage our local youth stay involved in our community by helping those who need it the most," said Dan Streeter, Director of the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission. "We believe that this program will have a tremendous impact on our area and are thrilled to have AT&T's support."

As well as serving as the meeting location for the Youth Advisory Council, the renovated meeting room will also be made available to other civic organizations, church groups and non-profit groups at no cost.

"We are so proud to have organizations like these serving those residents of Bay City who need a boost," said State Sen. Jim Barcia. "Contributions like this from our corporate partners will help these organizations continue to build stronger communities," he went on.

"Our community is blessed to have groups like the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission and the Youth Advisory Council taking it upon themselves to work to help our most vulnerable residents," said State Rep. Jeff Mayes. "Support from corporations like AT&T is vital to keeping the missions of these groups alive and well."

Along with helping nonprofits integrate technology into their operations and community outreach, AT&T also places technology tools in the hands of the underserved populations that the nonprofits work with in order to provide resources such as education programs, Internet access, computer training and job-skills development.

"We are proud to be able to reach out to our community organizations and help them help those in need," said Torreano. "These organizations will continue to use technology that is funded by this program to empower the community and change the lives of the people whom they serve on a day-to-day basis. We commend our state legislators for their dedication in assisting nonprofit organizations and for their understanding of the vital role that technology plays in their success."
