Coaches will often tell you, take it to the hoop and good things will happen. The Lady Eagles proved that is good advice as they powered their way to a 58-48 TVC East win.

The first quarter saw both teams work the paint. While Garber was able to get Frankenmuth's high scoring junior, Jenny McCain, in foul trouble, they didn't expect Kelsey Ritter to step up in such a big way. The junior forward scored 11 points in the first quarter to help the Eagles build a 19-14 lead.

The second quarter saw much the same but with different strategies and different results. Garber tried passing the ball in with the Frankenmuth defense reacting to either deflect the pass or defense the shot. The Eagles attacked more by driving to the basket which drew fouls. A steady procession to the free throw line resulted with Frankenmuth shooting 7 for 12 for the quarter and 10 for 16 for the half while Garber got to the line 8 times in the half making four. The result was a Eagle 28-22 half time advantage.

The drive to the basket strategy paid off in the start of the third quarter. Low post starters Ashton Morse and Katie Neering had to exit early with four fouls. This opened up things for Frankenmuth and Jenny McCain. As Garber tried working the perimeter, McCain worked the middle helping the Eagles to a 20-11 third quarter advantage and a 48-33 lead.

Garber battled back in the fourth quarter. With senior point guard Kelsea Zimmerman attacking the basket, shots opened up. But it was too little too late as Frankenmuth went into a stall which slowed things down enough to keep Garber from coming back.

Frankenmuth was lead by Kelsey Ritter with 17 points while Jenny McCain added 16 and Chelsea Mertz adding 8.

Kelsea Zimmerman paced the Duke attack with 16 points with fellow guard Molly Braun scoring 8.
