Hungry for a win and to get their season going in the right direction, the Western Warriors feel they have the talent to compete against anyone. And Heritage, coming off a big win against Flint Southwestern, was just the team to prove that against.

Western came out strong against the visiting Hawks, looking nothing like a team with only one win on the season. By the end of the first quarter, the two teams were all even at 19. The second quarter was much the same. Western would occasionally throw on their press in an effort to force a turnover and quick points. Rallying behind the strong play of Jacob Boileau and Corey Arnold, the Warriors kept neck and neck with the Hawks trailing by only a basket at halftime, 33-31.

Things got even more interesting in the third quarter. Heritage came out with their up-tempo offense and seemed to start to pull away from the Warriors. Then Corey Arnold attacked the basket opening up Boileau's inside game and the two helped Western pull off a 10-0 run late in the third to pull within two. Then Heritage completely changed their tactic. They switched from their usual up-tempo offense and slowed things way down. By holding onto the ball for almost a minute, the Hawks regained control of the game and were able to pull off a quarter ending 7-2 run to pull back ahead, 53-46.

Heritage sealed the Warriors fate in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter when three players each hit a three pointer to extend the Hawk lead to 63-50. Western kept battling but every time it looked like they might reach that mountain top, a timely steal or intercepted pass turned the tide. In the end, Heritage was able to hold off the Warriors with a 77-66 win.

Western was lead by strong performances by guard Corey Arnold who had 19 points and forward Jacob Boileau who not only had 18 points, but also hauled down 16 rebounds. Heritage was helped with a 24 point performance by A.J. Thomas while Lavario Smith scored 17.
