Beach Wellness Run Slated May 16 at Bay City State Recreation Area

Fitness Also Goal of Group Started by County Commissioners Coonan, Krygier

County Commissioners Kim Coonan and Ernie Krygier have made "Beach Wellness" household words in the Great Lakes Bay region over the past few years.

Goal of the group the pair have started is to clean up the beach at the former Bay City State Park, now known as the Bay City State Recreation Area.

One of the main fund-raising events is an annual Beach Wellness run that includes a "kids run."

"We had a very good turnout for our kids run and we look forward to an even better turnout this year for our kids run," said Mr. Coonan.

"Besides maintaining the beach another objective for Beach Wellness is the wellness component. We encourage people of all ages to take on healthy habits. Knowing that healthy habits promotes healthier lives and that improves the quality of life for many in our community.

"So join us on May 16th for a run/walk at "our" beach at the Bay City State Recreational Area. It is a beautiful place to enjoy nature. Thanks to all for your support."
