Spring and the sounds of ball playing are not just for the boys. At Essexville Hampton Little League, the girls took to the field in a tradition rich program. EHLL is the host field for all Bay County Little League girls as they come to these first class facilities to learn and play softball.

This is the training grounds for the area high school teams. As you look at the top players in the area high schools, they all got their start at EHLL.

While most of these girls only thoughts are that days game, this year marks the 5th year anniversary of the EHLL major girls winning the State Championship, the Central Region Championship in Joplin, Missouri and going to the Little League World Series in Portland, Oregon. Who knows what these girls may ultimately accomplish at the end of this season.

Saturday's game matched the Firehouse Car Wash team versus Bay Landscaping. Bay Landscaping started things right off with a four run first inning. Jena Laidate ripped a double followed by singles by Kelsey Cobeley, Casey Blundell and Emily Jankowski to push runs across the plate. Addyson Tomczak finished off the hitting with a single making it 4-0.

The Landscapers added two more runs in the third a single by Jankowski, Chloe Anebalo was hit by a pitch and then Tomczan followed with a single with Alexis Weiler doubling in the last run making it 6-0.

The Landscapers added another run in the fourth before Breanna Dinsmoore got Firehouse on the board with an in the park homerun making it 7-1.

The Landscapers scored five more times in the top of the fifth stretching their lead to 12-1. But Firehouse was not done yet. The Car Washers came back to score four runs in their end of the fifth aided by singles by Erica Rudy, Julia Weller, Jessica Hurley and Breanna Dinsmoore. But it was not enough as Bay Landscaping won 12-5.

EDITOR'S NOTE: And while the season is early, like batting swings and pitching motions, we too at MyBayCity will strive to obtain more accurate spelling of player's names.
