A year after All Saints' historic double state title in Baseball and Softball, the Cougar Varsity Baseball team is still a force to be reckoned with on the diamond. After a few road trips and more than a few rain outs the Cougars went into Thursdays conference doubleheader with their overall record at 8-3. The Cougars were confident they would come out on top.

After shutting down the Lakers leading batters in the top of the first, the Cougars struck first. After narrowly stealing third base, #1 Josh Sutton, along with #6 Adam Pijaszek on second base, scored off of a blast from All Saints catcher #7 Kevin Gwizdala.

The game stayed 2-0 until the top of the third when Lakers made a huge comeback. Undaunted by the two outs on the board, Lakers power hitters scored 5 runs before they were finally stopped by All Saints pitcher #12 Drew Bauer who was brought into take over for #9 Matt Mikolajczak.

Undeterred by the 5-2 deficit, the Cougars got right back into the game in the bottom of the third. Josh Sutton got things started for the Cougars with a base hit and then a steal to second base. Sutton was brought in by a hit from #3 Aaron "T-money" Janer. Janer advanced to second base off a hit from #14 Kevin "Fridge" Jakubczak. #8 BJ Weaver got himself to first base to load the bases for All Saints next hitter, #21 Justin Villano. Villano sent one deep into left field allowing Janer to knot the game a 4 runs apiece.

With only one out on the board, All Saints continued to swing away in the decisive third inning. Jakubczak and Weaver scored off a drive from #4 Justin Gielda, and Justin Villano was brought in by his brother Thomas. Gielda stole home to put the Cougars ahead 8-5 before the rally finally ended.

Unfortunately for the Cougars, as soon as the Lakers got back up to bat, the Lakers scored three more runs before the Cougars could stop them. The game remained tied 8-8 until late in the 7th inning when #4 Gielda put All Saints ahead 9-8.

The Cougars went onto win their second game 2-0 thanks to a flawless pitching job on the mound from #6 Adam Pijaszek. The Cougars are now 6-0 in their conference, and 10-3 overall.
