Lady Cougars Show Softball is Alive and Well at All Saints

Home Runs secure two more wins for the Cougar Ladies

Last year All Saints Central made history. Both the boys baseball team, and the girls softball team won state championships. One year has passed since the girls historic season and you'd expect them to have cooled down a bit right? Wrong. The Cougar ladies are just as hot as ever with their record now at 14-1-1.

Thursday afternoon, the girls added the most recent two wins to their record with a double whammy against Lakers. The first game was a 12-0 mercy featuring a home run blast from #4 Melanie Sobczak, and another terrific performance from All Saints number one pitcher Louise Rezmer. The second game was another decisive Cougar victory.

The Cougars struck early in the second game, scoring two runs in the first inning. The Lakers managed to hold off the Cougars, and even managed to score one run in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Cougars answered right back with #6 Taylor Timm, who scored off a drive from #3 Stephanie Herman.

The Cougars struck again later in the inning when #2 Brittany Case sent the ball soaring over the fence for a home run. Herman and Sobczak (who currently owns the state record for being hit the most times at bat) scored with Case off of her home run. The Cougars now held a commanding lead of 6-1.

In the final inning, #16 Kaylee Niemiec and #10 Lisa Heintskill scored two more runs for the Cougars, and 'Jeeze Louise' Rezmer struck three more batters out to finish off a two game route of the Lakers.

All Saints head softball coach Brad Walraven joked with the girls afterwards saying "don't hit anymore home runs cause I'm running out of balls!"
